Hello all, I started working as a network field technician a few
months ago. We have a lot of clients, and unfortunately, there was very little record keeping. For example, I don't know what clients backup or to where or what. My question...is there a fast way of gathering vital information in the shortest amount of time possible? If you have encountered situations like this how do you get "up to speed" without having to ask the client? nick |

Ask if the previous tech left any notes. If they didn't, the client will have to pay someone to do the investigation & research. Oh, and later, the client should also pay you or someone to write up documentation for them, as the business owners should have this general info at their fingertips. I like to do this kind of work before I actually touch/change anything on a new client's network. |
