If I use an AOL-compatible router, such as Linksys, do I still have to
run that AOL client on my computer(s)? Specifically, I'm interested in running Linux on my laptop (no working AOL client there) and connecting through a wireless router. Thanks! Johnny |

No use AOL = no need for AOL client on that system. >Specifically, I'm interested in running Linux on my laptop (no working >AOL client there) and connecting through a wireless router. As long as you don't want to log into an AOL account with *that* system... /daytripper |

Too many double negatives for me. Are you trying to say "yes" here? In comp.os.linux.misc, someone told me, if I use a router, AOL does not even need that I'm running Linux. So I thought that implied that it's possible to connect to AOL without running its client program. > >Specifically, I'm interested in running Linux on my laptop (no working > >AOL client there) and connecting through a wireless router. > > As long as you don't want to log into an AOL account with *that* system... > > /daytripper |

It's not a question of what the AOL host can "see" behind the router, it's just the way they designed the AOL "experience"... /daytripper |
