Have 2 PCs on wireless architecture-type network. After a couple hours
of trying to get them to talk to each other (via a LinkSys WAG54G-UK Gateway) I thought to check the MAC Addresses of both adapters. Both LinkSys WMP54G PCI Adapters arrived with the exact same MAC Addresses! No wonder. I changed one of the MAC addresses and low-and-behold communication. This was done by setting the WMP54G Locally Administered MAC Address via the Adapter Properties Advanced Tab. I've rebooted, reseated the PCI Adapter, deleted and reinstalled and every other thing to see if the WLAN Monitor would report the locally administered MAC address. No change. The WLAN Monitor still reports the INCORRECT MAC Address. I can live with it myself and have reported it to LinkSys International and thought to share this info in the hope it will be helpful to someone that runs into the same problem. Mike Mike |
