Hi there,
What I'm trying to achieve is, connecting two PC's which are in different buildings about 100 meters apart. I've tried linking them with 100 meter bluetooth dongles without success. I believe this is because bluetooth is for indoors only. What I need to know is, what is the cheapest and most effective/reliable hardware and software I can use to connect these PC's. I was lead to this newsgroup by doing a google search on the subject. In the thread I found it mentioned that I'd need an outside antenna unless the actual devices where near the window and/or had line of sight. The PC's do not have line of sight, does this mean I'll need to put an antenna outside? for me this isn't an option. I'm looking for the cheapest hardware available. Speed isn't really an issue as I just want to set up network connection in order to share my connection to this other PC 100 meters away. I only want to provide 56-128kbits to the other PC for accessing e-mail and basic browsing. Now porn downloading here, at least I hope not - I'm linking it up to my mam's PC <smile> Any and all help appreciated I got this advice in an email from a friend: 'easiest and cheapest! you looking at about 150 notes! 80 for the router 50 for the antennae and about 20 for the booster for the arial there is perhaps an out door bluetooth device but as far as that goes im not sure matey! -' Strider |
