Microsoft MN-700 Wireless-G router

A friend of mine just bought a MS wireless router a few weeks ago. He's
noticing that it seems to lose connectivity. For example, he'd sometimes
have to release his PC's IP address and renew it on the router. If he
connects the PC directly to the cable modem then there is never any problem.
He's tried it both with the wired connection and the wireless connection and
the same issue crops up.

I know that the MS products have now been discontinued but was this one of
the reasons for its poor sales?
