Hy guys
Anyboydy has a solution for a host file ignored on 2003 server? I tried the following: - Recreate the file - Check the database path into the registry (tried to move path, restart too) - nbtstat, ipconfig and flushing dns trying .. - stopping and restarting dnscache service - stopping the dns client too In all these case my host file on a newly pc is completely ignored. While on another pc it works perfectly. Some idea before using an MSDN incident? Thanks Andrea Andrew2 |

Why are you even using a prehistoric "cave man" Hosts file?

Because is easier for certain task like host locally some web site for
development and a dns configuration require too much time for a stupid static pointer like this one I need. |

Ok, I see.
Well, I'm really not sure, I have never seen that happen, I've always had the Hosts file work just fine on the rare occasions that I have done that. I think it would be quicker to just take a couple minutes to create the entry on a DNS server than the ammount of time it might take to figure out what is going on with the hosts file. Even if you have to create a Zone, it only takes a few seconds,...and more than one machine can "enjoy" the benefit if you want to use other machine, to "test" what you are developing,...you often get a better test if you don't do it from the development machine. -- Phillip Windell www.wandtv.com The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. ----------------------------------------------------- "Andrew2" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:5f5486de-e8b6-4f0c-9bb6-(E-Mail Removed)... > Because is easier for certain task like host locally some web site for > development and a dns configuration require too much time for a stupid > static pointer like this one I need. |
