If you have to ask a newsgroup how to do this it may be beyond your skill set. Newsgroups are good places to ask for help with specific issues, but what you're asking for is really beyond the scope of a newsgroup post, even if you provided sufficient detail (which you really haven't). |

You need to setup all servers and workstations using the same subnet and
join the workstations to the domain. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:03537c2b-0111-4b47-ad39-(E-Mail Removed)... > hello all, > > pls i nid your help!!!!!! pls my company policy > suddenly changed and they now want us to change our existing network > from a workgroup(80 computers in 4 labs connected together by > swithces) to a domain. i have set up a domain controller with ADS, DNS > and DHCP. > > the existing workgroup has two ip addresses(one for personnel > administrative computers and the other for the 4 labs). pls how do i > move all of these computers to the new server i just set up, using one > ip address scope? > > pls i nid answers and summary procedures asap- > thank you > > my e-mail is (E-Mail Removed) > > > > > |

IP#s have absolutley nothing to do with a Domain.
Join the machine to the Domain. The users can continue to log in with local Accounts until everything else pertaining to the Domain is finished. Lastly the users will thne log in with Domain accounts to create their profile. Once their profile is created use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard from the XP CD to copy the contents of their local user profile to the Domain profile. Once everything is verified to be correct delete the local profile and all of the local user account on the workstation except for the "factory originals". You have to know what you are doing for all of this. You cannot simply "wing it" and hope everything works. If you need help call someone who can physically come to your location. -- Phillip Windell www.wandtv.com The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. ----------------------------------------------------- <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:03537c2b-0111-4b47-ad39-(E-Mail Removed)... > hello all, > > pls i nid your help!!!!!! pls my company policy > suddenly changed and they now want us to change our existing network > from a workgroup(80 computers in 4 labs connected together by > swithces) to a domain. i have set up a domain controller with ADS, DNS > and DHCP. > > the existing workgroup has two ip addresses(one for personnel > administrative computers and the other for the 4 labs). pls how do i > move all of these computers to the new server i just set up, using one > ip address scope? > > pls i nid answers and summary procedures asap- > thank you > > my e-mail is (E-Mail Removed) > > > > > |

They don't have to be on the same subnet.
