Default Griffin Internet

Anyone using Griffin Internet for business broadband with 20+ sites?

How do you find their service and reliability? Their ability to get
lines activated quickly or at least on par with other decent isp's?

Activation take no longer than any other BT Wholesale using SP ~ 5
working days.

when they arise?

Now they've got their Redbacks up & running effectively.

I've never used their end-user-facing support, so would struggle to
answer.

They do a very nice buffet at Griffin, though, if you ever get the
chance to go!

I've never once rung Griffin and been able to tell them about a fault they
didn't already know about. As for line faults, Griffin tend to stay out of
the way and give you pretty much direct access to BT Wholesale through
MOPS. Their online interface for resellers is far better than any of the
others I've used.

You're quite right. They've got quite good, of late, at providing email
alerts of network issues, faults, etc.

What about when they switched from Cisco routers to Redbacks the week
before christmas last year?

Not as an end user, though.

Which others have you used?

Did you notice Griffin can now do simultaneous broadband/PSTN provides?
......except they don't provide the PSTN, of course.

ISTR they blamed that on MTUs on certain CPE routers. Or was that a
different outage? I do remember a lot of alerts from monitoring systems
last year, at one point thinking, "oh fuck, they're just as bad as
Easynet".

On second thoughts, it doesn't work with Firefox, and doesn't work with
the 'back' button. Should be fixed in MOPS2, apparently.

Murphx - Hint to whoever they outsourced their web interface design to: you
shouldn't need to double click in web pages, for any reason, ever.

BTW e.Co (some time ago) - Why oh why oh why should I need to install a
Siebel Thin Client plugin to use your vile little web interface?

Why do these companies have to have such awful web interfaces?

"Engineered Broadband" - not a particularly informative name. Never had
cause to use it myself.

No, that's the one.

It doesn't.

I thought the Engineered Broadband was the Wide-Area VPN & uplink QoS
between remote sites?

I was talking about their announcement today that they could support
the simultaneous provisioning of a new bb and PSTN line.

Can they do this in a location where BT has no spare line plant? In other
words, who is it who actually supplies the copper pairs?

I haven't fully looked at the instructions, however, the BT line can be
supplied by any Communications Provider. If fact on the gateway that
CPs use to place orders for PSTN lines, there is a Yes/No question that
asks "Do you want to place a simultaneous broadband order?" or similar.

I'm not yet sure of the finer points but one would imagine that there
will be a reference number provided that each party (BT & ISP) will be
told that enables the co-ordination of the provides. Clearly it won't
have any beneficial effect if there are no spair copper pairs.
