I have a cheap dynamode adsl router that was nasty when I bought it, but
cheap enough to get back online two years ago. However, it is now dropping the line and won't resynch with a reconnect, but does with a reboot. However it has started to need a reboot roughly every 30 minutes. I fancy a Linksys AG241 for future compatability. I already have a linksys wireless access point. Is the AG241 any good for the money? as I said I have a wire AP and a 12 port 10/100 wired switch in the home network anyway. Currently I'm on Bulldog 4meg (with an outstandig regrade to 8 meg for the last 6 months). If they don't sort it soon, I'll be returning to donor and joining BeThere as they are in my local exchange hence why I figured that the ADSL2/2+ might be useful. Also any suggestions on a god cheap place to order from with reliable next day delivery? -- Carl Robson Audio stream: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com:8000/samtest Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com Elder |

I find Zyxel P660R-61C http://preview.tinyurl.com/vn864 works well as a low-cost ADSL2/2+ router - I've fitted several. I use the HW version and haven't needed to resynch. I see www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk have stock, as do www.scan.co.uk. I normally use Ebuyer, but they are OOS -- JohnW. Replace the obvious with co.uk in 2 places to mail me. |

I've decided to go with getting a Linksys anyway. The dynamode was a piece of crap, but I bought it because at the time locally. When I signed to bulldog, the old BT tadpole wouldn't connect at all and hold any kind of synch, so I couldn't even order one online while I was stuck at slow speed. Even PCWorld/Maplin only had wireless/adsl combined kit and I already had decent wireless kit. At least now I will be covered for tech upgrades. Convinced the missus that our two antique fishbowl 17" CRTs are out of date and ordered a couple of Hanspree XM NY 19" TFTs while I was at it too. Her old Philips will kept as a spare, but mine was bought second hand, and I've had it for 5 years and it was branded as a PC make but the badge has come off so I don't even know what that was. Works OK, just seems slow now. -- Carl Robson Audio stream: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com:8000/samtest Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com |

I'll remember them if someone asks about cheap kit in future. I ended up buying a Linksys from Ebuyer along with some new monitors. -- Carl Robson Audio stream: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com:8000/samtest Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com |
