Default Unable to add file and printer sharing

I recently purchased a used Thinkpad 560/ w W98SE off eBay, its the PC I'm
typing this on. The prior org (or their corp it ) locked the computer down
such
that I cannot enable file & printer sharing or use Windows Update. I can
connect
to the internet, but can't attach to local printers and share on home
workgroup and Window update say policy doesn't allow updates. I can ping
the workgroup computers, but cannot see them in Network Neighborhood.

Is there a way to remove these constraints? I have a Win98 SE CD, but
would prefer not to have go reinstall the OS to get around this.

Thanks in advance for any information,

Mark

Look for a file on the cd called (iirc) poledit.exe that's the policy
editor where restrictions like this are made.

Thanks James, actually could never get it figured out, so I just re-installed
Win 98 SE. Everything is good now, Windows Update works and I'm able to
access workgroup printers and shares.
