Default Network mappings and network speed

Hi

I have an user who insits on having several mapings from his client
workstation to several folders in the folder hiarachi on our fileserver,
some deep within the folder structure. Can this have an effect on network
performance?

/A.

hi,
will be a impact of your network if explorer will be opened with all network
map drives and if on that folders are many files. Explorer is refreshing
(about every 30 seconds if i remember corect) the files on that folder.Of
course on a lan speed isnt a problem, but if you have a slow wan connection
that could be a problem.

Will this refreshing also be an issue when the user is saving his documents?
I've noticed considerable lag when he in Word clicks "Save as.." and the
explorer like window appears.

well, if it's on a slow wan link could be a issue the number of files on that
network mapped drive,
if is on your lan it could be and others issues(dns or lan missconfigured,
servers or network bottleneck etc).
