using linksys befsr41 as just a router

i have this befsr41 that i thought was having problems(flashing red
diag light) so i went out and bought another one. what settings
should i change to make it just serve out ip address' to a hub??? and
i should use a straight through cable on the uplink port right??? the
hub has a crossover switch.
