Wondered if someone might be able to shed some light on
wee struggle I'm having. I have installed a Linux solution called clark connect home 3.2 (have you heard of it?) www.clarkconnect.com The problem is I am very numb to firewall setting, about all I know is that firewalls open and close doors for access to Internet or web server etc... I have successfully installed and loggged in to the web admin dashboard facility. So I do have a connection from my pc to the gateway on the HTTPS ip address. But I can't seem to get my head around the port forwarding or incoming, outgoing info etc... Thus giving me no access to the Internet ![]() If at all possible if someone could please provide me the information to which ip or port I need open and point it to. Maybe possibly walk me through the process? I have search through all the forums and there seem to be no specifics to my scenario as I am not trying to access a web, email or VPN Servers. Many Thanks! Very new struggling Linux user! uphevel2 uphevel2 |

Should be about the same, even though I'm a bit confused regarding the big different in size of the ISO. IPCop ~ 50 mb and Clark Connect ~ 450 mb. What about your gateway to the internet? is there a firewall/NAT? are you sure you have two NIC's? etc. > The problem is I am very > numb to firewall setting, about all I know is that > firewalls open and close doors for access to Internet > or web server etc... Thus giving me no access to the Internet ![]() I'll try to help you even though I'm not using the same SW, but in my case the default settings in the SW already allowed http traffic. So unless Clark Connect has everything closed as default I would check whether you have configured your network interfaces correctly and placed the cables right. > If at all possible if someone could please provide me the information > to which ip or port You might even be willing to try ipcop, maybe just until you know that your cables and interfaces are working proberly. Since I haven't checked Clark Connects manuals I'll give you a link to ipcop's interface configuration which might help you (scroll a bit down to the diagram): http://www.ipcop.org/1.4.0/en/instal...iguration.html > I need open and point it to. Anyway, when I was setting up this dedicated FW I made sure that I had switch right after my adsl2+ modem so that I had a clear gateway to the internet in case something in the FW was blocking. It really sucks, that when having problems, one cannot access the internet to check manuals etc. Since there is a lot of other things that might block chances are that this is not a port forwarding issue. And if I'm wrong, sorry for wasting your time. ![]() And if it's really just a portforwarding thing you might find help in their manuals. If you don't care which FW software to use I can tell you that I had my IPCop up and running within 30 minutes and it wasn't hard following their instructions. > Many Thanks! > > Very new struggling Linux user! > uphevel2 nicolai |

I would like to hawever stay with clarks connect as I would like to run a web server on the same machine. Don't know how lucky I will get with that.. Uphevel2 |
