Default Dlink G624T and Port Forwarding problem

Trying to set up port forwarding on this router is a nightmare. I have
followed all the instructions that I can find on the subject and I still get
router lockups
Went into the Virtual server menu/user/add and created a new rule, if I try
to apply the new rule the router locks up giving an internal communication
error and only a power disconnect will sort it. The router will allow me to
apply the rule if I disconnect the phone jack/cable so that there is no ADSL
connected but as soon as I reconnect the plug, the router will freeze giving
the same error. I use BitComet and I have tried various listening ports
above the 50000 range in the router but I still get lockups. BitComet shows
the listening port as blocked only with this router. If I change back to my
USB speedtouch modem and use BitComet then the listening port is open and
ok.
I have the latest firmware installed on the router and it works great apart
from not letting me port forward. I use WinXP SP2and have configured Widows
firewall to allow BitComet access. Anyone any ideas on where I'm going
wrong?
