Default Network path could not be found message

Hello, group. Have a 2Wire home portal 1000 Series (wireless router, modem, firewall in one box from SBC) and have set up a wireless network. Host is a Windows ME desktop. Guest is a wireless Windows XP Home notebook. (There are others host notebooks, as well, but they are out of the house at this time.) The XP notebook host and other hosts can all share our DSL line and send/receive email via Outlook Express. But, I can't get the notebook to grab files from the ME host desktop. All software firewalls are disabled. On the XP notebook, I tried Start / Control Panel / Tools / Map Network Drive and plugged in the correct IP number, but I get the message "The network path [IP number] could not be found." Am trying to: 1) access/share the ME host PC's My Documents folder (which is ready to be shared, since the icon has the hand underneath it), and 2) share the printer. (File sharing and share printer are selected.)

Any tips? Google turned up some info but nothing specific to my issue. And 2Wire's tech support was absolutely worthless, offering only one basic suggestion that did not work. 2Wire calls it a "hardware issue." Any guidance or direction appreciated. Joe Starin
