Win98se + internet/email

Hi

At work one computer I use uses Win98se
It connects wirelessly to the office router by using a BT Voyager 1050

Its been ok for months but lately during the day it still sees the router
but it drops the connection, it cant connect to collect the email or the
internet. Even if using the BT voyager software and remove the router on
list and re-add it it doesnt work still?

Another computer someone else uses that connects the same way but uses Win
XP is fine with it.

Any ideas why things may have changed to make the win98se computer do this?

The router is turned off each night, when its back on the following morning
it seems to be ok again, then during the day it does the same.

I tried typing run- ipconfig all but the screen comes up and disappears
before i can see it, so i cant see what that says.

To make the ipconfig screen stay, open a command prompt window
(Start > Run > command) and type the ipconfig command there.

Another way to see the TCP/IP configuration is to use Start > Run >
Winipcfg, then select the wireless network adapter from the menu.

Also today when it lost connection again, i restarted the computer and it
came back if that helps to diagnose the problem.

You're welcome. Intermittent connection problems can be hard to
diagnose. They can be caused by the router, the computer's wireless
network adapter hardware, the computer's wireless network software,
interference from another wireless network, interference from a 2.4
GHz cordless telephone, etc.

What does " it still sees the router but it drops the connection"
mean? What exactly happens?

Hi

On the voyager software, it puts the icon next to the clock, and when i
click on it it brings up the routers it picks up and you can select the
router and then it connects, and it stays so you dont have to select it each
time, only the first time.

When it disconnects or cant find a connection, it still have the router in
the list and still says its connected, but just cant get emails or go on the
internet, and mailwasher programme i use says no connection found when this
problem happens.

Its not a big problem as it seems when i start the computer it all works
fine again, just annoying.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with the
BT Voyager software. I'd contact BT for help with it.
