Default NETGEAR Support Server - help

I lost my internet connection and reset up my netgear Rangemax DG834PN.
everything seemed fine - emails no problem etc but I can't connect to my
home page which is MSN (I have all my regularly used links on there)
I keep getting the message
"Enter username and password for Netgear DG834PN at http://uk.msn.com"
If I enter my MSN name and password it doesn't work and if I enter the
router name and password, I get the router status screen but with uk.my.msn
in the address bar
HELP!

Sounds very odd!

Does it happen with *all* web sites or is it confined to accessing
uk.msn.com?

Two things to check:

1. c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts - are there any rogue entries in
there such as "192.168.0.1 uk.msn.com"?

2. Is your browser trying to use the router as a proxy? If it's IE, check
Tools | Internet Options | Connection | LAN Settings - there shouldn't be a
tick in "Use a proxy..."

Try pinging an external site and see what address it returns. For example,
news.bbc.co.uk is 212.58.226.29

Try browsing to that address rather than to news.bbc.co.uk and see if it
lets you in: it could be that DNS is playing silly buggers.

Not 100% sure on this, but the Netgear DG834PN has content filtering I think
Check "Block Sites" under "Security" on the router's web interface
