Now that I've got my livebox up and running....
I've just gone into one of my programs and it's saying I'm not behind a firewall... but I've got Norton Systemworks 2007. Surely this should be protecting my livebox too? If not, any idea what I should do to make sure I'm behind a firewall (that's if the program is telling the truth). Netty Netty |

I suggest you try www.grc.com ( grc in case your news app underlines it as a web link and is difficult to read) and use the "Shields Up!" test. (There are various views about the GRC site and the man behind it, which range from positive - it helps users, to negative, spouting rubbish just to promote security consulting and make money from scaring people). I'm not going to debate the pros and cons about man/site, but have found the "Shields Up!" test a handy check to see which ports are open - you might find that the reason for you getting this message is because of uPNP (or whatever it is called - I don't use it, and don't worry as a result). By the way, does SystemWorks 2007 incude a firewall ? NB Norton Internet Security has a firewall, though I would no longer use any of the recent Norton products: the SystemWorks Pro 2001/02/03 CDs on eBay were quite cheap some time ago, and the s/w was easier to uninstall (whereas later versions got to be worse and worse if one needed to get the software off / didn't wish to renew licences etc). |

The livebox is a firewall. > If not, any idea what I should do to make sure I'm behind a firewall (that's > if the program is telling the truth). It isn't. Unless you've disabled the firewall on the livebox (the default is for it to be on). -- Regards Jon |

The only one which comes close would be the Norton 360 but even that doesn't include the full System Works package... If it's an earlier version, depending on which one, will depend on how compatable it will be with your OS... |
