Default Win XP workstation cannot browse the network

I have several winXP Pro workstations in a domain with a Win2003 Server.

On some of the workstations, when I go to my network places and try to
browse the network all I get is a blank white page and no computers showing
up.

If I check the event log I am getting some error messages shown below.

"The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times
on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{2AABA718-2842-43A9-AF2B-C595DD2978CB}. The
backup browser is stopping."

and also

The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master
\\SERVER on the network
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{2AABA718-2842-43A9-AF2B-C595DD2978CB}. The data is the
error code.

I am also getting some error messages on the server event log which mentions
an election being forced between the server and another workstation to become
the master browser.

I beleive that the server may have lost the election and another workstation
is now the master browser and therefore the reason the other workstations
cannot browse.

Could this be the case and if so how do i make the Server the master browser
once again, or how else can i make the workstations browse the network.
