I can't get my nic to install properly... It seems to
install... i can ping it at 127.0.0.1 from the command prompt... when i run ipconfig the nic ip defaults to some unknown address... the netmask is stuck at 255.255.0.0... it doesn't seem to be seeing ths dhcp or dns servers... i have tried removing and reinstalling the hardware, drivers, with no change... help FrustratedME |

The NIC is defaulting to a Link Local IP address in the range 169.254.0.0/255.255.0.0 (described in RFC 3330). This is by design when it can't find a DHCP server to assign an IP address. How are you configuring the properties?
