My router reports the above situation - is it good or otherwise ?

that downstram attenuation suggests you are a far way from the exchange.
Is that so?
The downstream margin is very healthy - ADSL max lifts synchronisation speed
until the margin drops to 6dB.
What speed are you synchronising at?

You may still be able to squeeze another .5 - 1Mbps out of it & you
won't know until you try...

Be the way check your filters/extensions etc as they can make a
profound difference to your SNR

I'll second that!
Put ONE filter on your incoming socket, put the modem/router close to it and
distribute all phones and data from there.
The odd thing about your stats is the huge margin (if that's signal to noise
ratio) and it may well improve as it learns about line characteristics.
Also, keep your modem powered on all the time.

Is the OP on ADSL Max, do we know, or is it a IPStream Home 500 service?
