Hi all,
I have noticed that after sp2 installation I can't anymore see properties dialog for network shares. Every time I right click on the network share (\\server\share) and choose Properties - nothing happens and explorer suddenly starts acting slowly. When I log off a window pops up suggesting to terminate explorer.exe. When I roll back service pack 2 the network shares properties functionality is restored. I have firewall service turned on on the server as suggested in other posts to prevent network browsing from being a complete crawl but in this case it does not help. Does anyone have any ideas about solving this problem? Thanks a lot! Roman Roman Tumaykin |

If you check the firewall set up after applying SP2, you will find the SP2
change IP scope for file sharing to "My network (subnet) only". And definitely, you tried out of the server's subnet, change it back manually. There are a lot of bugs in SP2 in my experience. Try errors. Good luck. -- Ray MCSE+Internet, MCDBA, MCP "Roman Tumaykin" <roman (at) tumaykin dot com> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > Hi all, > > I have noticed that after sp2 installation I can't anymore see properties > dialog for network shares. Actually the firewall service is running but the firewall itself is turned
off.... -- Roman "Ray" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > If you check the firewall set up after applying SP2, you will find the SP2 > change IP scope for file sharing to "My network (subnet) only". And one more detail - the share is located on a file server with sp2. I am
trying to access this share from a server with sp2 installed and can't get properties. When I try to access the share from a server w/o sp2 everything works. Did you check the firewall settings on the file server with sp2? The IP
score for each port. -- Ray MCSE+Internet, MCDBA, MCP "Roman Tumaykin" <roman (at) tumaykin dot com> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > And one more detail - the share is located on a file server with sp2. The firewall is off, but the exceptions for file sharing is set to any
scope. Thanks Roman "Ray" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > Did you check the firewall settings on the file server with sp2? Turn it on, (maybe need to turn it off again), just try to make firewall
work again. -- Ray MCSE+Internet, MCDBA, MCP "Roman Tumaykin" <roman (at) tumaykin dot com> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > The firewall is off, but the exceptions for file sharing is set to any > scope. > > Thanks > > Roman > "Ray" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message > news:(E-Mail Removed)... >> Did you check the firewall settings on the file server with sp2?
