I have an older Access Point so can only use the WEP encryption protocol.
I have one wired desktop but also run a wifi laptop, handheld and TV adapter. My laptop, using the Netgear configuration utility can easily change its transmit key but my daughter's HP laptop has an inbuilt broadcom wifi system which uses Windows for configuration; I cannot find any specific configurations software for it. I've heard that WindowsXP Home only allows for Key 1, does anyone know otherwise (She only visits occasionally so I cannot test it out as yet). Geoff Lane Geoff Lane |

Go to Hp's website, enter the laptop model number in the support area search and it will offer you the relevant Broadcom software. If you can't find what you want, I've found that 63wb03ww.exe from Lenovo support has worked with every Broadcom Mini-PCI card I've seen so far. Be aware, it's almost 80 MB >I've heard that WindowsXP Home only allows for Key 1, does anyone know >otherwise (She only visits occasionally so I cannot test it out as yet). Don't know, I use WPA here and have little experience of XP Home and its shortcomings/differences. Others may comment. > >Geoff Lane -- Clint Sharp |
