I hope someone can help?
I have; D-Link 604 router with 1X Windows XP desktop connected via cat5 cable 1 X Windows 98 desktop connected via cat5 cable 1 X Windows Vista home premium laptop connected via wifi All machines use DHCP from the router and when ipconfig is used have 192.168.1.X & 255.255.255.0 with the router as gateway. All machines have access to the internet via the router. All have MSHOME as the windows network group. I have shared files on the XP desktop & Vista machines Using network browser no machine can see any other machine and therefore cannot see the shares. I can ping the XP & 98 machine from any other machines. I cannot ping the vista machine from any other machine I cannot ping any machine using the machine name I can force a share using the IP (\\192.168.1.X\share) but not using the names (\\machine\share) I must be missing something please can someone shed some light? Thanks in advance, Robert. |

Have you got any personal firewalls on the machines, these can cause hiccups. Geoff Lane |
