Hi,
I have a desktop with WinXP Home and a laptop with Win2000. I am sharing an internet connection and the shared folders directory on the desktop. I also have a shared folder on the laptop that the desktop can see. The computers are connected with a crossover cable and are part of the same workgroup. The laptop was part of a domain previously but is now part of the same workgroup. Neither logins that I regularly use have passwords. When I try to view the desktop from the laptop I get a message saying that access is denied. If I try: \\desktop I get this message. If I try \\desktop\shareddocs I can see the files. I have other folders that are shared on the desktop but I get the same response that access is denied. I tried adding a password to the laptop and when I try the above it instead prompts me for a user id and password. No matter which configuration of computer name and login name I don't seem to be able to connect to the other computer. I would like to be able to share the printer too that is connected to the desktop but at the moment I cannot see the printers that are connected. Thanks for your help David zeidman@hotmail.com |
