I have a Windows Me and two Windows 98 machines on a home
network with a Linksys switch/gateway. The internet works on all 3 machines. Network Places works on the 98 machines. But, on the Windows Me the Network Places explorer window freezes as soon as I drill down and click on a file. I can browse folders longer perhaps about six mouse clicks before freeze up. This is very repeatable. If I go in and search for the networked computer by name and then drill down as before, it takes much longer for freeze up to occur. If I map the remote drive, access across the network seems to be unlimited (I can usually do this and other things as only the Network Places window is frozen not the whole computer). If I reboot, I can start over with network places. I have checked various sites and none seem to have any reference to this type of problem. Jerry |

There is no fix for this other than to map a network drive and do NOT drill
down through My Network Places. If you map a network drive, the problem goes away every time.
