Default Wireless Network Probs, XP & ME

I have a desktop running XP Home and a laptop running ME.
The desktop is hard-wired to the router/AP and the laptop
is connected via wireless. Both are abl;e to share the
cable modem with no problem. However, I have been unable
to set-up a home network between the two. ZThey can't see
files pr the printer. All componets have file and printer
sharing enabled. When I run the networking wizard, it
creates the workgroup but does not see any components
connected. I am unable to access the printer that is
connected the deskptop. Sometimes, the wizard creates a
bridge that won't even allow me to share net access.
Help!!! (please)
