Default can't browse or connect to machine, can connect to ALL other machines

We have as single 2k3 PDC running DNS and DHCP

6 XP Pro clients

Our network is generally pretty healthy, I'm sure it has it's problems that
I don't know about (yet) but for the most part it's fine... except one
machine!

4 of the 6 clients are very new installations of XP pro and very minimal
software installed (office, acrobat, firefox, 7-zip, etc) - none of them are
running and server applications or anything like that.

I am able to browse (and connect via IP) to 5 of our 6 clients and also the
server from all the machines on the network. From every machine I cannot
connect to one specific machine ("bad pc".
This is hard to explain. Using Bad PC I can connect to all other network
resources including Bad PC.

I've looked at the network stack and they all have the same protocols. I've
ran BROWSERSTAT on several machines and they all return the same results.
[snip]
Status for domain PMD on transport

Browsing is active on domain.
Master browser name is: PMD_DC01
Master browser is running build 3790
2 backup servers retrieved from master PMD_DC01

There are 1 domains in domain PMD on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7E1B1B1E-0DDC-471F-BFF0-29C9611A24DB}
[/snip]

I've explicitly enabled netBIOS on the clients.

I really don't know what else it could be? Anyone have any ideas? Is there
more information that I can supply that might help you out?

Thanks for reading,
Steve

Check your firewall and/or third party security software settings.

Default RE: can't browse or connect to machine, can connect to ALL other machi

Definately sound like XP built in firewall or some other firewall service
running. Can you see the "BAD PC" in my network places. Is so what error do
you get when you try to access the resource on it

Default Re: can't browse or connect to machine, can connect to ALL other machines

It was the Windows Firewall. I don't understand. It's enabled on ALL the
other machines with no default configuration changes. How could it be fine
on so many machines and be a problem on another?

I know, I know.. that's an annoying question, but still....

Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip, I feel dumb I didn't try that myself!
