Hi all,
I have XP configured as the ICS host and ME as the client. ICS works just fine for web browsing. However, I also use a vpn connection on the ME client that only works if I plug the ME client directly to the network. However, the connection hangs if I go through ICS. The vpn connection does connect and it looks like it's working. However, any application I try to run starts and then hangs after about 5 seconds. I looked at the previous messages on this board as well ast at: http://www.careyholzman.com/netfixes.htm. I couldn't find any problem that matches this one. The short term fix is to plug the ME machine directly into the cable modem, but that is not a good solution since the other computer then loses its connection to the internet. Anyone have any ideas? I thought the problem might be the MTU since the connection does start but then drops after a bit. I tried messing with those settings but to no avail. Thanks for any help, Michele Michele |

I figured this out. It turned out to be a problem with
the MTU setting on the ME box. I had to adjust the MTU setting on the ME box. It was set to 1400, but it needed to be revised to 1352. (I found this number by doing a ping -l -f packet size from ME machine to XP machine until I got the exact number that wouldn't fragment. Then I subtracted 20 from that number. I found this info at dslreports.com). This procedure came from I don't think this was a Wingate issue, but it's curious that the older version of the Wingate software didn't have the problem. >-----Original Message----- >Hi all, > >I have XP configured as the ICS host and ME as the >client.
