Default Thanks SKY

Hi

Just moved over to SKY internet and I must say I'm so impressed.

Normally people in the numberous forums just complain and moan. Spoke
to SKY last saturday, zen provided the MAC code on monday and today
its all working perfect. Free router that just replaces my current
netgear router and thats it.

Gone from zen 1 meg unlimited to 560-600k downloads for £20.00
cheaper.

Well worth a look.

Thanks.

Rich

But of course...not unlimited.

I have no problem with the application of a FUP. I do have a problem
with it being described as unlimited. Sky max is not unlimited.

I have to say that I have not got any problems, as atleast I can read
(my typing might be shite) but I can certainly read!

So just for you here is what the Sky Broadband letter STATES:

Max Package: £10 per month. Free Connection. Free Wireless Router. Up
to 16 Mb Download Speed. Free Optional Installation.

BUT here is the important bit!

Monthly Usage Cap: Unlimited*

So at the bottom in the small print it then STATES in PLAIN ENGLISH!

*Subject to fair Usage policy (which means it is not really
UNLIMITED).

But then you have been told this before, have you not?

It is unlimited. It is fair. What's your problem?

Can a user download as much as they want, with no limit? No.

Ergo, it is not unlimited.

There might be a very good FUP, so it's 'virtually unlimited'. But (a)
that's not unlimited (b) it's not that good (c) it could chnage at any
time (look at the manipulations PlusNet have been through).

Don't get me wrong. I don't object to a FUP, or to limits of other
kinds. But, advertising wise, calling it 'unlimited' is wrong.

But all services that you use in pretty much all walks of live have some
kind of fair usage aspect. I think some of the other ISPs have worked out
how to deal with people who abuse the network, they enforce contention from
their pipe after a certain level is reached.

Lets see you reach a few gb when downloading at 10kbs............
