Server 2003 VPN / Client gives 678 error
Hello,
I am trying to use a Windows 2003 Server, who is already configured, as a VPN Server. This is what I did: - I enabled VPN Gateway for the networkdevice (PPTP) - In Routing and Remote Access I created a rule for vpn - I gave the user which I am trying to access the neede rights to do remote and vpn - I am testing from within the network so there should be no issues with the router or antything like that. So when I try to connect from another machine (Windows 2000) it gives me: Error 678 Does somebody know what to do? thanks for help peter petschni

Can you telnet port 1723? Or make sure no GRE issue. This search result may help,

Hello Robert,
if I try telnet serverip 1723 it gives me back: Connection to "serverip" Could not open connection to the host, on port 1723: Connection failed Would I have to enable the telnet Server for this? (Even if i try this from the server it gives me the same error.) The other thing is that I found an option (in the Routing and Remote Access Dialog) "General": Enable this computer: and then you can tick "Remote access server" You probably would have to tick that, or? If you can't telnet port 1723 internally, please re-configure the RRAS following this how to.
