Default Server 2003 VPN / Client gives 678 error

Hello,

I am trying to use a Windows 2003 Server, who is already configured, as
a VPN Server.

This is what I did:

- I enabled VPN Gateway for the networkdevice (PPTP)
- In Routing and Remote Access I created a rule for vpn
- I gave the user which I am trying to access the neede rights to do
remote and vpn
- I am testing from within the network so there should be no issues
with the router or antything like that.

So when I try to connect from another machine (Windows 2000) it gives
me: Error 678

Does somebody know what to do?

thanks for help
peter

Hello Robert,

if I try
telnet serverip 1723 it gives me back:
Connection to "serverip" Could not open connection to the host, on port
1723: Connection failed

Would I have to enable the telnet Server for this? (Even if i try this
from the server it gives me the same error.)

The other thing is that I found an option (in the Routing and Remote
Access Dialog) "General": Enable this computer: and then you can tick
"Remote access server"
You probably would have to tick that, or? But what I am wondering about
is that the Remote Desktop Service is already working.
