Default Linksys WAG354G reset

Hi

My daughter flatmate uses her Linksys modem connected via rj11 cable.
She has kindly offered to share her broadband with my daugther and
other flatmates.

Unfortunately she does not know her WEP key and cannot log in to Admin
to set new wep key, Admin and Admin do not work, presumably she has
changed it at some time.

She is willing to reset the modem and set new username, password and
WEP key if I guide her through the process.

Unofrtunatlly she is in Britain and I am in Ireland, with no experience

of this modem. I have the manual but it gives little info about Basic
Settings.

She uses Tiscali broadband and has her username and password from
Tiscali.
************
I am very reluctant to 'talk her through this' unless I am sure I will
not end up blocking her own broadband access and hence would appreciate

some guidance.
************
Could anyone provide a screenshot of the basic setup tab and give me
some guidance of what will be required for each field.

If possible it would be good to see someones Tiscali screenshot.

On the modem user manual screenshot of the basic tab I cannot see where

the ISP username and password are entrered.

This can be emailed to me at the email address on this posting.

(Please do not warn me about Spam, I am happy with gmail's spam
filters, and this is not my primary email address).

Thanks ColinK

try admin/password

If this no good, press reset button on rear of router, and it'll reset
to that.

It happens that Gel formulated :
> try admin/password

Or, if it's anything like mine, leave the username blank & try admin,
Admin, password, Password etc for the password.

The WAG354G contains a 4-port switch - so from your description there are 3
ports unused. Connect the other PCs using ethernet cables. Add a cheap
switch if there are more than 4 PCs ...

Also, there will be a reset mechanism for the router - probably a tiny
button in a recess, that you push with a straightened paper clip. I'm sure
you could googe for the manual. This will allow factory reset, so flatmate
will need the ISP login details. Did flatmate set up up herself originally?
Then she can do so again ...

The default for Linksys is admin/admin. Failing that, press the reset
button (sometimes hidden underneath a rotating foot) for at least 10
seconds. Try that several times. Also try it with the reset button
pressed during power-up, and held down for at least 10 secs
thereafter.

Hi

The various password alternatives did not work. I got her to reset the
modem and admin / admin now works but with no internet access.

My fears of no internet access came true.

She went to basic settings and changed the following as suggested on
Tiscali site.

Virtual Circuit Identifier - VCI 38
Virtual Path Identifier - VPI 0
Protocol RFC 2364: PPP over ATM (PPPoA)

She enterd what she believes is her correct email address (user name)
and password, but no success.

Any help with tisacli settings for this modem would be appreciated.

Thanks ColinK

Go to Tiscali home site then click help then settings for routers.

She will have to ring her ISP to ask for the correct login name and
password. They will want the security information provided when the account
was first set up (mother's maiden name, inside leg measurment, pet's name,
or whatever). She should then write this information down in a safe place
and NOT FORGET IT !!
