Default Wireless route/cable modem - newbie question

Firstly, apologies if this one's a FAQ. Unfortunately I can't access the
group's FAQ to avoid shooting myself in the foot :-(

Anyway. For (goodish) reasons I won't bore you with, I've currently got
both BT and cable broadband connections. BT goes via a D-Link DSL-G604T
wireless router (with 4 Ethernet ports) , Telewest via their own cable
modem (Motorola SB5100), which has one Ethernet and one USB port.

I'd like to eliminate the BT connection, but would also like to avoid
buying a wireless cable modem/router if possible. My question therefore,
is how can I (or can I) hook up the D-Link router and the cable modem so
that the wireless PCs and laptop can use the cable broadband connection?

It's safest (and fairly accurate) to assume that I'm completely ignorant
of most networking matters, then hopefully I'll understand any
information that anybody's kind enough to provide.

BTW it's no problem to hard wire the router and the cable modem; they're
physically next to each other. And yes, I've had a look at Telewest's
site. It contains this helpful comment: "Telewest does not support the
use of its broadband connection as part of a home network; this can be
done at your discretion." Not much point in asking them, then (though I
can see their point if they don't want six PCs all downloading
movies...).

Any assistance will be *very* gratefully received.

TIA

Dave

you need a router with ethernet input to share a cable connection. The
D-link's WAN port is an ADSL modem so you need to replace it with
something else. £40 should cover it (Buffalo router from
broadbandbuyer.co.uk).
