Default losing connection if laptop sleeps

my laptop with windos ME is connected to DSL via a linksys router connected
to my desktop which has XP Pro.
everything works ok except if I leave the laptop idle for a while and I come
back I lose the internet connection unless I reboot it.
another laptop with xp on it does not have that priblem.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
thanks

Check for updated network card drivers that support standby mode, or don't
use standby mode.
