I have a XP Pro laptop and win ME Desktop that are
networked wireless, with the ME machine as the ICS. I can access the internet and the printer on the ME machine from the XP and I can access shared folders on the XP laptop from the ME machine. What I can not do is access a shared folder on the ME deskfrom the XP laptop. The XP network "place" requires a "guest" login and password (this can not be changed) and requires a password. I have tried creating a guest account on the ME machine and even logged into it. I have also "turned on" the guest on the XP laptop. But when I try to access the folder on the ME machine from the XP laptop, it it requires that I use an address like "Moore/guest" and a password. I have tried leaving blank as well as assigning a pwd on the ME and using this. No luck - WHat am I missing here? Thanks for your help! Paul Moore paul.j.moore@comcast.net |

If so, enter that password at the prompt. If not, un-share and re-share the folder without a password. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
