Default DLINK DGL-4300 anf Fujitsu Speedport problem

Hello!!!

First, I have an original Verizon DSL setup (circa 1997) with the old
Fujitsu Speedport Modem. Currently, it is hooked up to a Linksys WRT54G
wireless router.

Using up to four PC's and everything worked fine.

Lately the router has been acting up (internet traffic slows down over
time)... Resetting the router seems to fix the problem.

So, I bought a new router, the D-Link DGL-4300. Got some good reviews plus I
want to use the gamefuel tech. (wife and I play WoW while the kids do their
IM thing).

When I hooked it up I get no internet access at all. I can access the router
and made all the appropriate security changes. But the router, in the status
page, doesn't seem to be able to communicate and configure the DCHP (gets
the message Please Wait...)

DLINK was no help at all, insisting I switch to PPPoE even though my modem
doesn't support that. They suggested I call verizon and get my modem changed
to 'Bridge'

Hooked up the old router and everything appears to be working fine.

Is there some default setting I am missing here or is my tech just old
school and I am SOL?

Thanks!

D

The Relese and Renew buttons in the router config are greyed out. Should I
tru the Relese and renew through IPCONFIG?

Verizon has a "Renew" utility. If you like I can post it to the
0.verizon.binaries newsgroup.
