Default ME logs on to a blank user, can't access network

After doing a reinstall of ME over an existing install,
the systems starts at a blank user (Start menu item
reads "Log off..." and the network is inaccesable. When
you click log off, it logs on correctly with the user's
name, but the antivirus program is disabled, and the
firewall has to be turned off. Then the network is
accessable. How do I get the system to start up logged on
the the user, (there is only one user on the system.)

Using REGEDIT, open up the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\
Network\Real Mode Net

and delete the value named "AutoLogon" if it exists, then restart the
system.
