I wonder if you can help me.
I am new to Linux and have installed Ubuntu Breezy Badger on my laptop. I have a Belkin Pre-N wireless router and network card which I am trying to setup in Ubuntu but I am having a lot of problems which I hope you can help me with. I have been trying to set it up for a while now and I am desperate for help. My Belkin wireless network card number is F5D8010uk. I have identified the correct driver and downloaded it. I discovered I needed to use ndiswrapper. Below shows the versions I am using :- $ ndiswrapper -v utils version: 1.8 driver version: 1.23 vermagic: 2.6.12-10-386 386 gcc-3.4 I then loaded the driver into ndiswrapper and the output is below :- Installed drivers: netani driver installed, hardware present I ran modprobe ndiswrapper, but I don't think it worked but I could be wrong. I tried to use the iwconfig command but got the following :- $ iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. sit0 no wireless extensions I ran dmesg and got the following (only pasting stuff that mentions ndiswrapper) :- [4294708.666000] ndiswrapper version 1.23 loaded (preempt=no,smp=no) [4294708.787000] ndiswrapper: driver netani () loaded [4294708.787000] PCI: Enabling device 0000:07:00.0 (0000 -> 0002) [4294708.787000] ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:07:00.0[A] -> Link [LNKD] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 [4294708.788000] ndiswrapper: using irq 11 [4294709.548000] wlan0: vendor: 'Airgo Networks True MIMO (tm) Wireless Adapter' [4294709.548000] wlan0: ethernet device 00:11:50:2a:e8:91 using NDIS driver netani, 17CB:0001:17CB:0001.5.conf [4294709.548000] wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK; AES/CCMP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK [4294709.871000] ndiswrapper (add_wep_key:815): adding encryption key 1 failed (C0010015) [4294710.017000] NET: Registered protocol family 17 I then looked at the system log which I will paste below. Why is my wireless card not working in Ubuntu but works perfectly in Windows? Can someone please help me setup my wireless card in Ubuntu? I hope someone can help me, please do not be technical as I am a complete novice in Linux. I appreciate any help or information given. Thanks! You can get the latest version by changing your source list, and apt-get see your man page fo details. Also did you use ifconfig before you use iwconfig, sometimes you need to tell iwconfig what device your using. I assume that you ran dhclient after the modprobe right? Or are you using a static ip address. Try this dhclient "device" where "device" is eth0 or what ever your wifi device is. You also might want to search the Ubuntu forums for more advice as they will cover this in detail, and might be more helpful this this group. Rthoreau |
