Default seeing other computors on my network using WIFI

hi all.
i have just setup a wifi but i cannot get the computors to see each other.
i can get onto the internet with both comps through the router, but cannot
connect both comps.

is it possible to connect the comps with or without going through the
router.?

i would preffer not going through the router if it is possible.

Can they ping each other? If so, then you have a Windows sharing
problem.

Yes.

That would be an "ad hoc mode" network -- but then you wouldn't be
connected to the router and the Internet. To have both at the same
time, you have to use "infrastructure mode" with the router.
