We have two sites corresponding to IP's as follows :
site1.fullsite.edu - 1.2.200.1 site2.fullsite.edu - 1.2.200.2 (Note the IPs are on the same subnet). We are planning on hosting the two sites on the same physical server running Win2K3 Standard. Which approach is better : assign the two ip's to the same network card and then assign each website to listen on the corresponding IP OR Have two NIC's in the same server with different IP's ? thank you. vikrantca vikrantca |

One Nic. Two IP#s.
Two nic requires two subnets. You don't put two Nics in the same subnet together. -- Phillip Windell [MCP, MVP, CCNA] www.wandtv.com ----------------------------------------------------- Understanding the ISA 2004 Access Rule Processing http://www.isaserver.org/articles/IS...cessRules.html Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server: Guidance http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver/t...dance/2004.asp http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver/t...dance/2000.asp Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server: Partners http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver/partners/default.asp Deployment Guidelines for ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...isaserver.mspx ----------------------------------------------------- "vikrantca" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:20D18979-1F19-448D-A4F0-(E-Mail Removed)... > We have two sites corresponding to IP's as follows : > > site1.fullsite.edu - 1.2.200.1 > site2.fullsite.edu - 1.2.200.2 > > (Note the IPs are on the same subnet). > > We are planning on hosting the two sites on the same physical server running > Win2K3 Standard. > > Which approach is better : assign the two ip's to the same network card and > then assign each website to listen on the corresponding IP > OR > Have two NIC's in the same server with different IP's ? > > > thank you. > vikrantca |
