Default Connect client to server

Hi friends,

I have win 2000 advanced server installed and 15 clients(XP Prof)
I have connected router to server and we have static IP.
I set router as DHCP enabled. Router IP address is 192.162.8.1
Server IP address is 192.162.8.100
Default gate way is 192.168.8.1

Clients address starts from 192.168.8.105, ...

When i try to connect client to domain(server) its not accepting and saying
that "domain not found"

When i issue the command nslookup at client, its showing server as
our ISP name (default server : jtb.brunet.gov.bn)
and IP Address as ISP DSN server address.

How can i connect my client to server?

Thanx in advance

It is better to install an internal DNS instead of ISP DNS.

You can keep the DHCP on the router and have DHCP assign DNS to all workstations. Without knowing the router, that is all we can tell you.

The basic problem here is that what you are trying to do doesn't work
with Active Directory!

You can use a router to do DHCP, NAT and DNS relay for a LAN if you are
not using Active Directory. Once you install AD, this is not a viable
option. AD requires all machines (including the DC itself) to use the local
DNS service. AD uses the local DNS to find AD resources (such as logon).
There is no way that these will be on the DNS server at your ISP!

You can use the DHCP on the router IF you can modify it to give out your
DC's IP address from DNS. If you can't do that, turn off DHCP on the router
and set it up on the server.

Modify the DNS on your DC to forward to a public DNS server (such as the
one at your ISP). It will then be able to handle requests for foreign as
well as local names.

All clients should use the local DC as their DNS server and the router
as their default gateway.
