Hi all,
I've always setup Ad and DHCP for small 1 office sites. Now I have to setup a network with multiple sites and I'm not sure how I can setup the dhcp scopes to allow for multiple sites to get different subnet addresses.. for eg: - site a address range 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.100 - site b address range 192.168.2.10 - 192.168.2.100 - site c address range 192.168.3.10 - 192.168.3.100 I think I would just create these scopes in dhcp... which is fine. But how do I tell the dhcp server to send that subnet the correct IP range? It may be simple but I'm just not sure how to get this to work? Thanks for your help in advance. It isn't all that hard, but I am surprised that you want to do it. It
depends a bit on how the sites are linked, but I would think that having a DHCP server in each site would be a better idea (unless you are talking about small sites with no servers). > Jeff exchange dummy wrote: > Hi all, > I've always setup Ad and DHCP for small 1 office sites. DHCP discovery requests, other than those from the server's local subnet,
will have to be relayed by a relay capable router or a Windows Server running the DHCP Relay Agent on the remote subnet. Relayed requests are directed packets rather than broadcasts; so your DHCP server knows the source IP and will automatically offer an address from the correct scope to remote clients. Hi Bill,
Yeh its small sites that wont have a local server. Hence, my query. Thanks Bill. Cheers, Fernando "Bill Grant" wrote: > It isn't all that hard, but I am surprised that you want to do it. Then you will need to enable DHCP relay as Doug suggested.
