I have a laptop running ME, and I am thinking of adding a wireless network card to access the internet in public places where wireless networks are set you. Such as Starbucks, airports, etc. Any info you can provide about 'gotchas' I might encounter would be appreciated. Such as how well do the access ports in aairports work, do they charge, what about Starbucks? Thanks. Phil |

Have just gone through this situation. WinME with a Netgear MA401 wireless card and a Netgear MR814v2 wireless router and 4 port hub. I also tried a MA501 card with the same problems. WinME recognizes the wireless card but it either does not have the correct drivers or memory space is allocated elsewhere that will not allow the card to function properly [code 10]. Haven't figured this out yet but beware that ME is not quite up to par for wireless as far as I can see. Netgear [India support] has been of NO HELP. The Netgear hub/wireless router works fine based on an ethernet cable connection from the same computer. The idea WAS/is to rid myself of the wires. Perhaps I may be ridding myself of the Netgear cards. Hope this helps some. ------- RC >-----Original Message----- > I have a laptop running ME, and I am thinking of adding a wireless network >card to access the internet in public places where wireless networks are set >you.
