So I switched from an ADSL-connection to fibre and I would like my
Windows 98-running desktop to connect to the net through LAN. This should work by simply plugging the cable from the ethernet card into the box on the wall, and it works fine on my XP-equipped laptop. But when I start Internet Explorer on the desktop, it tells me that the page cannot be displayed and is obviously not connected. What I have done so far: - Checked the box for 'Never dial a number'. - Uninstalled the program for the old ADSL-connection, which involved a login procedure when connecting. Still no dice. Solutions/suggestions? Paolo paolo.mariani@spray.no |
