Hi all,

as I am having a network problem (cannot share folders), i tried - under
DOS - the ping command.
Ping of the current computer name (CHRISTINA) gives me - after some
while - my ip-address, calling it christina.
Ping of a previous, once used computer name (RITA) gives me -
immediately - the same ip-address, calling it rita.pc.

This seems odd to me...

Can anybody help?

I am using a DNS server (I suppose). How do I check for the old records?

When I run "nbtstat -A MyIPAdress" under DOS I get the following entries:

CHRISTINA <00> unique registered
ARRI <00> group registered
CHRISTINA <03> unique registered
RITA <03> unique registered

(Arri is the name of my workgroup, Christina the name of my computer)
So here there is something wrong as well.

The consequence of this double naming seems to be that I cannot access
my network.

Can you help?

Regards,
Henriette, Germany
