Help! I have an ME machne connected to a D-Link router through a USB->Ethernet adapter. I have a Win 95 machine connected to the router via ethernet cable. The D-Link is connected to the cable modem. This has worked fine for at least a year, both computer can see the internet. I tried to install home networking on the ME machine, and now the ME machine can't 1. access the router or 2. access the cable modem (internet) when plugged in directly (bypassing the router). I just want to undo whatever was changed when I ran the home networking Wizard. For some reason, the 'system restore' won't work. I can't install another NIC card as suggested by the help. HELP!!! |

I had the same sort of problem. What I found out is 1) my DSL modem likes the 192.168.1.0 address, so I went into the setup of my Linksys router (by typing 192.168.1.0 and changing the router to 192.168.2.1. One computer is 192.168.2.2 and the other is 192.168.2.3). My setup is: C1 NIC to router port 4; C2 NIC to router port 3; DSL modem to router port 1 Then I spent hours constantly reseting the modem and router, powering down computer, router, modem. Turning back on modem first (all lights on) then router, then computer. Finally, both computers are sharing the 1 DSL modem together or independently. Also must enable sharing on both systems. I use Zone Alarm, XP Pro and WMe. I do not use ICS. I share resource over IPX. Hope this helps >-----Original Message----- >Help! >I have an ME machne connected to a D-Link router through a >USB->Ethernet adapter.
