I have a laptop with a wireless (belkin 54g) card installed. I want to connect this to our network with a NT Domain server. The problem I appear to have is that the wireless network does not initialise until a user has logged in. However, the user is unable to log in because no domain server is available. It's a chicken and egg situation - I cannot do one without the other. Belkin have suggested logging in then out, then in again. But this is not possible because the laptop is locked down so that only authenticated users can log in. Besides, I cannot believe that the networking shouldn't start up before a user logs in???? Is there a registry fix I can do or anything I can change to fix this? |

I ran into that exact problem... however it was very difficult to get them to admit to anything other than that it was my problem... the problem is that the driver itself does not read any configuration data from anywhere when they are loaded... and therefore it cannot be configured until after the computer has initialized and their crappy little "Belkin Wireless Utility" can tell the card what to do. So... rather than make the card useful or able to function on a domain, they choose the more secure method to not authenticate/connect to anything until the utility says so... they have said that this is a problem, which they have no plans (at the moment) to fix. However, if they do fix... they will post it on their website. I do believe this is ONLY relating to the Belkin piece of sh17 wireless card.. and am now going out to return every card I bought & buy netgear cards. I'll try & keep you posted as to how well the netgear (or whatever I buy) cards work. |
