Default Firewalls

Hello,
I have installed Yahoo! Messenger and it will not allow
me to use my web cam. I have tried to use their help page
and it brings me to a page and tells me what to do but i
do not have the options it gives me. This is what it tells
me to do:
In order to use the Yahoo! Messenger Webcam feature, your
firewall must
permit outgoing TCP connections on port 5100. Please make
the following
changes to your firewall:

Protocol: TCP
Server: webcam.yahoo.com
Port: 5100

It does not tell me how I am to do this though so i was
wondering if you could please help me.

Kevin

Kevin - please try to restrict yourself to asking questions in one NG - you
now have two identical threads going (and in neither of them have you
answered the question! - what is your firewall!??) in different NG's

I said i don't know...i don't know much about computers
but when i got my computer back from Gateway there was one
on my computer...at least that's what i think is stopping
me from using my webcam on Yahoo! Messenger because
everything on their help page suggests that is what it is
but they explain how to fix the problem but their
directions are not matching what happens as i follow them.
So if you have a solution i would greatly appreciate the
help. Sorry about the 2 threads in diffent things i wasn't
sure which one i should post my problem in.

Gateway would NOT install software on your PC without informing you (they
have to pay the vendors, and would wish to recoup the cost from you).

I can only suggest that perhaps you should
1) look in your Add/Remove programs wizard and remove anything you don't use
2) download, install and run AdAware, from www.lavasoftusa.com to remove
spyware
3) update your virus definitions, and run a full system scan of all files
4) delete any and all files names HOSTS
5) repost with the results after that

It would be impossible to give you a specific answer to your problem without
having specific information from you about the problem.

I would suggest taking it back to Gateway or having a professional
technician repair it for you.

Kevin - you can safely delete all that AdAware finds - it will create a
backup in case you need to restore it.
Update your AV Definitions using the tool that comes with your Anti- Virus
package - which one are you using?
