unable to ping to default gateway/

Hi,,

os -xp with sp2

Statically Ip, default gateway subnet mask assigned, pinging to local
ip(127.0.0.1) as well as assinged ip,

nic is fine,, in taskbar,, network connection icon shown,, right click
-> status shows only sent byte,,, received 0 bytes..

looking for a help !! thanks....
