When I try to log into my work's network with my Win98 machine I get
the error "No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network resources." I've done a ton of searching and reading on this problem and have tried every solution I've found and none have worked. I have set up the 98 machine as specified in the Microsoft article "How to enable Windows 98/ME/NT clients to logon to Windows 2003 based Domains": - Installed Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 1 or higher. - Installed all updates from Microsoft update site - Installed latest version of DSCLIENT from Mircrosoft site - Enabled NTLM 2 Authentication via regedit - Enabled SMB Signing via regedit - Configured the workstation to use local WINS server (using DHCP for WINS) - Configured the local DNS domain as DNS under TCP/IP properties However I still get the error. I can access the internet through our router on the 98 machine, and I can successfully ping the server by both name and IP address, however I can't access any of the network drives/folders. Any ideas (aside from disabling SMB on the server)? mikestang@gmail.com |
